Dejected!

Every month, we give the pups their flea meds. Kicho is great with it even though she particularly doesn’t care for the smell but she seems ok with it. Sumo, on the other hand, is completely dejected afterwards. First of all, he knows. He always knows. I could go a day earlier or later, and yet somehow, he still knows when it is time for his flea meds. I’ve tried using some of his favorite treats but have been unsuccessful at tricking him to stay. The usual routine consists of chasing him around the apartment, holding him down as he’s squirming around, and then squirting the smelly flea stuff on his skin. Instantly, he cries, he sniffs around, trying to roll all over to get rid of the smell, or to try to reach and lick it off. He hates the stuff. He then pouts and proceeds to hide underneath the couch, refusing to interact with us, refusing to eat his treats. When he does finally comes out from hiding, he lays around depressed and extremely upset about the whole experience, giving us a dirty glare.

Here in this photo, he finally came out, laid by the fridge, expecting compensation for his sufferings… Look at that face…

Hi, my name is Sumo and I'm a red Shiba Inu. I like to drive my parents crazy by destroying everything. The curtains, shoelaces, couches, cables, dressers, drywall, hardwood floors (Oh, definitely the hardwoods), remote controls, and absolutely anything I can chomp on. I also love to scratch the heck out of everything. I'm an artist. I've tried to tell my parents but they don't seem to understand nor appreciate the things that I do. I make my work of art on the doors, cabinets, mirrors, and pretty much anything I can lay my paws on.

Born: February 9, 2008
Breed: Black & Tan Female Shiba Inu
Name (Nicknames): Kicho, Kichi, Keech, Keechster, Little Bear
Age: 2 Years 7 Months
Weight: 14.1 lbs

I am a new addition to our family. I arrived on March 14, 2009. I am a bit of a goody-goody and always tell on Sumo when he's doing something bad but that never stops him from trying to get away with it. Unfortunately, I do have heart disease but I'm hanging tough and always full of energy and constantly bothering Sumo when he is trying to sleep. I like being scratched by the base of my tail and lots of treats is a big plus! ;-) Oh I like to eat fuzz balls and ummmm... sniff some poo. But only sniff! I don't roll with it.
